2001 Meduxnekeag Canoe Races
The 2001 Meduxnekeag Canoe Race was held on Saturday, April 28,
2001. The race began at the Wellington Residence on the Station Road in New Limerick and
ended at the Highland Ave. Bridge in Houlton. With over 90 racers, it was a huge success
this year. Co-Chairman Clint Cushman and Peter Blood spend much time each year organizing
this popular event.
Blood states that this
is an activity that you can participate in your entire life. Both he and Cushman are
active racers, and actually finished third overall in this race. The overall winner,
however, is the Dollars for Scholars program at the local schools.
It takes many people to
make an event like this run smoothly, and as usual it did. Congratulations to everyone who
had a part in this great day.
