Tweedie Resigns

Houlton
Coach Jerry Tweedie has ended his nine year career as Houlton girls coach.
His teams reached seven tournaments and collected three sportsmanship
banners. Tweedie has been coaching basketball in the Houlton system for
thirty years. |

Aroostook Warrior Corey Shields has transferred to Northern Maine Community
college in Presque Isle. Shields attended UMFK last semester. He had 12
points in his debut against CMCC this weekend. Shields is shown here in a

Central Aroostook Panthers remained undefeated as they stopped Hodgdon
tonight at home. Panther guard Bryan Grew scored his 1000th career point

jumped out to an early lead behind 12 first half points from Clair Thompson;
but the Red Devils fought back behind Jenny Rollins and picked up their

first period lead and never looked back as they defeated Central 70 - 35.

Kevin Sanford led a balanced
scoring attack with 15 points for the Hawks, who picked up the easy win
tonight. The Hawks will travel to Mars Hill on Saturday evening to take on
the undefeated panthers at 7 pm |

Cougars and Hodgdon Hawks hooked up in a good game at Hodgdon. The
Cougars held on to win. Central Aroostook, East Grand, and Houlton also
picked up wins tonight. |

teams had a good night this evening. SACHS improved to 11-0 at Ashland with
a 54-45 win. Katahdin upset Fort Fairfield behind 17 points from K.C.
Duffy-Stanley. Hodgdon used the strong inside game of Erin Foster to get by
Washburn, Marie Gilman tossed in 30 for the East Grand Lady Vikes in their
win at Easton and Lindsey Michaud finished with 20 in CAHS win over Wisdom.

Mark Socoby scored 19 points
and cleared 17 rebounds and Leif O'Connell tossed in 16 points to power
Houlton past Stearns of Millinocket.
Dustin Edwards scored 11 points and Danny Bartlett contributed nine
points and seven assists.
Derek DiFrederico's game-high 20 points and seven assists sparked Stearns
and Matt LeGassey had seven points. |

Calvary Chapel Sabres of Orrington came to Danforth looking to keep their
record intact. The Vikes were looking to avenge an early season loss. It
turned out to be a fans dream as both teams battled down to the final buzzer

Bapst Crusaders made the long trek North to take on the Houlton-Hodgdon
Black Hawks last night. Despite playing a little short handed due to a lot
of players not feeling well, the visitors gave their hosts all they wanted
before finally falling 3-2.

of Hodgdon, scored his 1000th career point last night at Unity College. Kervin is a
Junior, coming back from a knee injury this year and is the Rams leading scorer once again

Sara Quint Named to All-Region

The NAIA All-Region X
Soccer Team has been named and Hodgdon's Sara Quint was named to the team. Quint is a
sophomore sweeper for the University of Maine at Fort Kent.The players selected to the All
Region Team will now be considered for NAIA All-American status. The teams are voted on by
the region's coaches. |

Black Hawks- Brewer Skate to Tie 11/23/03

On Saturday
night at the T. J. Ryan Center in Brewer it was high school hockey night as the Brewer
Witches played host to Houlton in a pre-season scrimmage game. Class B Houlton played the
Class A Brewer team tough as both teams played through 3 periods to a 2-2 tie.
Houlton scored the 1st goal of the game, as Micah Carton found the net for

Shanna McGary, who set the single season scoring record at Hodgdon last year, has moved
on to the University of Maine at Farmington. Shanna had a goal on Saturday in the Lady
Beavers most recent win. added

The UMF women's soccer team has been selected for an At-Large
bid to the NCAA national tournament. The Beavers will travel to Bangor to take on
conference rival Husson College on Wednesday November 12th at 1pm in the first round of
the tournament. The winner will travel to Wheaton College in Norton, MA on Saturday
November 14th in the Regional round of the tournament |
