24th annual ‘Pie Run’

The 24th annual “Pie Run” is set for Saturday, Aug. 6 during the Island Falls Summerfest celebration.

A Kids Fun Run (a half mile) will kick off the morning at 8:45 a.m. for children age 9 and younger.

The 5K run or 4K walk will start at 9 a.m. at the Island Falls Municipal Building (exit 276 off I-95). The course is paved and/or gravel. Water stations are set at the halfway point of the race. Entry fee is $12 for pre-registration and $15 the day of the race. All proceeds benefit the AGAPE Food Pantry.

The awards are unique at this event, as homemade pies/desserts are given to the top overall finishers (male/female) in the run and walk divisions, as well as the first finisher in each category for 14 and under; 15-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; and 70 plus.

There will be water, watermelon and other refreshments after the race. Random drawings will be held for 50 door prizes worth more than $1,000. The highlight of the day will be the pie auction starting after the race around 10:30 a.m.
