Final 16 Players Qualify For Maine Amateur Championshp

The Last of Four Qualifiers at Bangor Muni

The final 16 spots in next month’s 101st Maine State Amateur Golf Championship were up for grabs at a qualifier Bangor Municipal Golf Course Thursday.

Thomas Hanscom (PVCC) and Max Woodman (Barnes Brook GC) were the only two golfers to shoot under par. Hanscom fired a 2-under par 69 and Woodman a 1-under par 70 to finish one and two.

Former George Stevens Academy golfer Percy Zentz and Jon Humphrey from Presque Isle CC tied for third place at 1-over par.

135 of the top amateurs in the state will move on to the Maine Championship tournament July 7, 8 and 9, at the Biddeford-Saco CC.

The defending champion is Camden’s Cole Anderson. He is exempt from having to qualify for the tourney, as is others players such as 13-time champion Mark Plummer.
