Bangor All Stars Come Up Just Short of LLWS

Bangor Team Finishes Post Season Play With 11-1 Record

For the Bangor All Star Little League baseball team, the only loss in the entire summer season tournament play turns out to be the one that stops them from going to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

The Bangor team lost to the Massachusetts state champ 10-1 Thursday evening in the New England Regional championship game in Bristol, Connecticut, sending the Mass team to the LLWS.

Bangor rolled through Maine District #3 play, going 5-0. Then at the Maine State Tournament in Waldoboro, the team went 4-0. And, when they got to Bristol for the regional tourney, the team won their first two games!

In the title game Thursday, Bangor pitchers struggled with control issues, walking 10 batters. The Mass team outhit Bangor 8-2 and Mass pitchers struck out 14 Bangor batters.

While Bangor comes up a bit short in the goal to get to the LLWS, the team from Middleboro, Massachusetts will make its first appearance in Williamsport. The team’s first game is Wednesday, August 17th.
