Led by the McCarthys, Erin and Dan, the Bangor High School cross country teams claimed Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference (KVAC) titles on Saturday in Waterville.
That means the Rams will compete of the state championships to be held in Bangor (Saxl Park) later this month.
KVAC CLASS A GIRLS: Erin McCarthy scored the top time at 20:35. Her teammate, Megan Randall finished a close second.
Mt. Ararat, Brunswick and Camden Hills also qualified for the state championship.
Brewer’s Olivia Mosca was among four runners who earned a trip to the state championship from non-qualifying schools.
KVAC CLASS A BOYS: Bangor’s Dan McCarthy (17:07) led a pack of Rams runners who finished 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th, leading the team to the conference title.
Mt. Ararat, Brunswick and Hampden Academy teams also qualified for the state championship.
