More than 400 days since their last home game, the UMaine football won its first ever springtime game on Saturday afternoon, beating #13 UAlbany 38-34 in CAA conference play.
A cold and windy March day at Alfond Stadium in Orono and the Black Bears got behind the Great Danes 10-0 early in the game.
Maine would come back to score the next 17 points to take a 17-13 lead at the half.
The second half was a see-saw game on the scoreboard with the Bears taking the lead for good on a Joe Fagnano to Andre Miller 10-yard TD pass play.
Miller, the former Old Town High School standout, was the his third TD catch of the day. He had eight catches for a career-high 144 yards.
Quarterback Joe Fagnano (17-for-29, 249 yards) tossed a total of four TD passes as the Black Bears racked up 412 yards of offense.
The Black Bears are now 1-1 in this first ever spring season consisting of six games. UAlbany is also 1-1.
