Houlton/GHCA girls win Aroostook League team title

Ewings claims individual County Championship

It was a great day for racing in Fort Kent yesterday.  The fall foliage was in full bloom at the Fort Kent Outdoor Center – 10th Mountain Ski Club venue.  Many of the Houlton/GHCA runners were still feeling the effects of Saturday’s Festival of Champions race in Belfast, but nevertheless, they rose to the occasion and we were able to take home some awards.

On the girl’s side, Teanne Ewings ran to claim the individual County Championship in a time of 21:40.6.  She was joined in the top 10 by teammates Elena Ardell (3), Calli Sylvia (4), Natalie Johnson (5), Isabella Ardell (7), and McKenna Phillips (9).
The Aroostook League scored four runners for team competition and this resulted in the girls winning the team title for the first time in program history with a score of 13 points.
For the boys, we had two runners place in the top 10, Phillip Espenscheid claimed 6th place overall and he was followed up by Hodgdon’s Jeremiah Borgoin in 10th place.  Presque Isle took the overall team title in 10th place.
