By Matthew Cunha – WHOU Intern

There is now a restaurant at the Houlton Country Club. The Lakeside Restaurant debuted on Mother’s Day to a big crowd.

The [board] of the Houlton Country Club approached Bill Roderick and Nancy Levin to open a restaurant at the country club. Bill and Nancy ran The Horn restaurant, which closed in January.

“A couple of weeks later we were approached by the [board members] of the country club to open up this restaurant,” said Levin.

The Lakeside Restaurant is open to the public and not just for members of the country club.

Lakeside’s menu will be reminiscent of the past, with some additions such as prime rib and plank salmon. Chef Bill said that the menu will change every two months according to the season.

May and June is the first menu, followed by a different menu in July and  August, and another one in September and October. The September and October menu will feature harvest items.

The restaurant will also include a bar and deck menu outside of the normal dining room.

“If you did not want to come in to have dinner, you can come in and just get some wings and sandwiches,” said Roderick.

The dining room  at the country club is newly renovated. The renovations include air condition, insulation, heat pumps, and lighting. Future renovations include a dock down by the lake that will hold up to eight boats.

“The view by the lake makes it special,” said Levin.

Bill and Nancy will continue to do private parties, along with the dining room still being open.

The Lakeside Restaurant will be open Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to a 2:30 p.m. last seating and from 4 to a 8 p.m. last seating. Brunch will be served on Sundays from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

“We are going to be open through the fall,” said Levin.

Walk Ins are welcomed at the restaurant, but reservations are recommended. A full menu can be found online at facebook.com/lakesideathcgc.
