Event Series Event Series: Aid for Kids Educational Fair

Bess the Book Bus at Aid for Kids Educational Fair

The Aid for Kids organization in conjunction with the John Millar Civic Center will be hosting an Educational Fair on Saturday, Augst 26 at Millar Civic Center. The event will be open from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Following is a list of groups that will be participating.

* Bess the Book Bus- a nationally acclaimed traveling literacy van with free books for children of all ages

*Aroostook County Action Program

*American Red Cross

*Cary library will be doing a children’s craft

*Cooperative Extension- Chris Finemore teaching how to make a healthy snack

* Krystal Caron- child seat technician; learn how to properly install a child safety seat

* Manes&Tails animal education

* Community Health and Counseling Services- Educational information

*Challenger of Maine- learn about the dynamics of flight by making and launching a paper rocket

*Lego Robotics of Maine Portland- Learn to program LEGO robots, build with LEGO’S and check out the 3D printers

*Pam Dixon Oertel- Author of “Lucy Leaf” a children’s book about the adventures of Lucy Leaf on the big oak tree. Signed books available for purchase and free coloring sheets

*Elizabeth Overlock- an illistrator who will be teaching sketching

*Bangor Savings Bank- open a new children’s savings account and get an added bonus

*Bicyle coalition of Maine- Bicycle Safety Rodeo designed to teach and encourage children to ride safely. Will include a helmet check and bike mechanical check. Please bring your bike and helmet

* Southside robotics team- Lego fun

* Katie Sloat- author of “Adventures Beyond the Pond with JOJO and Serendipitous Dragonfly” and owner of Serendipitous Dragonfly pet store

* KVHC- learn about the wide array of services offered

*Houlton Fire Department- Safety trailer learn how to exit a fire safely

*Brass Anchor Barbershop- free haircuts for those 12 and under

*Took a Leap Goat Farm- Baby goats and animal education

* UMPI Camp Invention- hands on learning fun

*Roxanne Bruce- Lesson plans available to look over and classes offered on how to use games as part of children’s curriculum. Will have games and a raffle basket with lesson plans and other items

*Girl Scouts- educational information

*Maine School of Science and Mathematics- hands on learning

*Pine Tree Waste- recycling information

*Craig and Amy Greenier- face painting

*Francis Malcolm Science Center- hands on fun
games, inflatables and MORE-
