Expect dazzling and atmospheric acoustic guitar work in the American traditions of Country Folk Blues Ragtime,  Slide guitar.  Songs in English French and Bold-Faced-true stories.

Born and raised in France Bertrand lived in Boston and Providence for years but found great friends and fantastic artistic partners moving to Houlton; Some of them will join him on stage including 6 ballerinas from the Houlton Dance Studio. A special micro-grant award from the Maine Arts Commission enabled this rare collaboration between a folk musician Ballet dancers and choreographers Sandy Wartley and Sue York.

What they said about Bertrand:

”La Vie En Bleu” (Cd)…an unexpected gem…unquestionable tone and

phrasing whether using six-or twelve-string acoustic (or) Dobro

-Michael Caito, The Providence Phoenix

“…street tough…with seductive smoothness…”

-Scott Alarik, the Boston Globe

“La Vie En Bleu” ‘s soulful sounds are like a humid Southern afternoon

with a cool Parisian attitude”.

– Nicole Bishop, The Tab.

“…Boston French Blues guitar wizard…imaginative melodic and

rhythmic sense…’

-Elijah Wald, The Boston Globe

Also a very special one of a kind guitar will be raffled to benefit music programs in Houlton. We would love the winner to be announced by WHOU on Monday April 8th at noon. The guitar is a commemorative work of art, designed by local guitarist Bertrand Laurence, built by talented Luthier Kevin Carpenter, and Airbrushed painted by the amazing Gabriel Grimm.
