Bird Watching Tour
June 9, 2018 @ 6:30 am - 11:00 am
Join the Woodie Wheaton Land Trust as Colin Brown, from Downeast Lakes Land Trust, guides a bird watching tour within WWLT’s most recently acquired property, located along the west shore of Monument Brook. The brook forms the US – Canada boundary and represents the origin of the St. Croix Waterway, flowing into North Lake and East Grand Lake. Ecological assessments of these lands have found that the area is occupied by 13 breeding species of special concern in Maine, with habitat supporting species such as the olive-sided flycatcher, chimney swift, black tern, least bittern, sedge wren, and rusty blackbird. Meet at the rest area on the east side of Route 1 in Amity at 6:50am. We anticipate the tour will end by 11am. Sturdy shoes, bug spray/net and binoculars are recommended. Rain date Sunday, June 10th. Call WWLT at 207-448-3250 or email [email protected] to RSVP by Friday, June 8th.
