Dispatchers Appreciation Week 2019

April 15, 2019 - April 21, 2019

Press Release, April 11, 2019:

Dispatchers Appreciation Week 2019

The week of April 15-21, 2019, is National Public Safety Telecommunicators Appreciation week, also known as Dispatcher Appreciation Week. Our dispatchers are the front line contacts for all incoming calls to the department, answer all the 911 calls, and relay important information to our first responders in the field.

Dispatchers are the ones behind the scene, who are often not recognized for their work. They are the ones who answer when you dial 911 when in need of help or simply calling for assistance or business. They are a calm voice in that moment of need, and the ones who get the information to tell first responders where they are needed. Here at Houlton Public Safety, our dispatchers service Police, Fire and Ambulance for Houlton and other area communities.

On behalf of Houlton Public Safety (police, fire and EMS) and community, we say “thank you.” Thank you to Wanda Scott, Tom Milton, Carol Grant and Rachel Fitzpatrick for your dedication and service to community.

Telecommunicators Week began in California in 1981 and quickly grew to national recognition. Just ten years later, Congress designated the second full week of each April as a time to remember the critical role that dispatchers play in keeping us all safe.
Please take the time to stop in and thank our dispatchers.
