Warren Wins Another NEPGA Title

Falmouth Pro Tops In New England

Make it two consecutive wins and three total victories for Maine’s Shawn Warren at the New England PGA Professionals Tournament.

The teaching pro at Falmouth CC took a six stroke lead into Wednesday final round played in Hamilton, Massachusetts.

He cruised to a 4-over par 76 and still was the only golfer under par (1-under) for the tournament. His three-day total was 213. Runnerup Scott Johnson was 218.

“I was 3-under early on in the round and that allowed me to play a little more conservative and really stick to the game plan,” Warren said. “This place, as everybody can tell with the scores, you’re one swing away from getting into a lot of trouble. I did a good job earlier of steadying the ship and keeping the ball in play and then in the end I just hung on. It was nice not to have to grind it out too much but it’s still a tough battle.”

“What a special place. To win the 100th is huge, to win back-to-back, I’m so fortunate, but to do it on this piece of property, this club, Myopia Hunt Club, it’s a dream come true,” Warren added. – NEPGA Press Release

Warren won the NEPGA in 2013 and now back-to-back in 2019 and 2020. He becomes just the seventh player to win three NEPGA titles in the 100 year history of the event.

Two weeks ago, Warren was in San Francisco playing in the PGA Championship Major Tournament on the PGA Tour, representing teaching pros from all over the country.

Other Maine pros in the NEPGA tourney…Jeff Seavey (Goose River GC) finished in third place, Dan Venezio (Portland CC) placed T-28th and Mike Dugas (JW Parks GC) finished T-44th.
