New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) Career Fair (Woodstock)
March 28, 2019 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Matching skilled individuals with available jobs is something New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) has been doing for its students for decades. On Thursday, March 28, the Woodstock Campus of NBCC is taking its matchmaking skills public with a Career Fair open to job seekers from the St. John River Valley.
“We want to provide an opportunity for our students to see where the jobs are, but we also want to make that connection for the public too,” said Angie Godin, Recruitment Advisor and Student Services Representative at NBCC Woodstock. “The Career Fair supports the local labour market by giving industry the opportunity to meet and recruit talent for their operations.”
The Career Fair will be held in the gym at NBCC Woodstock and is open to the public from 1 to 5 p.m. Earlier in the day, valley high school students will also have an opportunity to visit the Career Fair and start thinking about their futures.
“The high school students who have expressed an interest in various sectors, such as trades, business, IT or health sciences, will be able to visit those areas of the college and get a firsthand look at what skills they’ll need to acquire to have a career in those sectors,” said Godin. “Then they’ll go to the Career Fair and find out what the job prospects are in this area.”
A number of local industries, ranging from trucking companies to IT firms to health care providers, will be at the Career Fair to recruit new employees. Canada Border Services Agency will also be there, along with Atlantic Canada Aerospace and Defence.
“There are jobs in this area, and I believe it’s important for the public to see the connection between NBCC and jobs,” said Godin. “We want to be part of the community and be involved in solving local labour market challenges.”
