Houlton/GHCA team show good results in opening meet

Teanne Ewings/Daniel Ross take top honors

The first cross-country race of the Aroostook League schedule kicked off this afternoon as the co-op team of Houlton High School and Greater Houlton Christian Academy played host to Fort Kent and the Maine School of Science and Math on the Bird Farm Property.

“I’m very happy to report that in this early part of the season we saw some pretty nice results from our squad,” said coach Chris Rines.

Taking top honors in the girl’s race was freshman runner Teanne Ewings, followed by Leanne Ross, Elena Ardell, Isabella Ardell, and Calli Sylvia.  The Houlton/GHCA girls swept places 1 – 5 and earned their first perfect

They were followed by a pack of three Fort Kent girls before Nataline Johnson and Makenna Phillips, the sixth and seventh scoring runners, came in.
On the boys’ side, Daniel Ross took first place in convincing fashion.  The boys were unable to score as a team due to only having four runners.  MSSM took the boy’s race with a perfect 15 as Fort Kent did not have any boys to enter in the race as well.
