Houlton/GHCA’s Ewings and Johnson compete in New England XC Championships

Belfast, Maine- The Northern Maine Regional and State Championship girls and boys races were held in Belfast, and this year the New England Cross Country Championships took place in Belfast as well.

Houlton/GHCA’s Teanne Ewings and Natalie Johnson both competed in the New England Cross Country Championships this past weekend, and represented the Aroostook County strong.

Ewings received All-New England Honors as she finished as the New England Runner Up in a time of 17:39. It was the best finish by an Aroostook County runner since the 1930’s.

Her teammate Natalie Johnson finished her season with a new personal best. She finished the course in a new personal best in 19:06, placing 51st out of 251 runners.

The winner of the race was Maine’s own Ruth White of Orono. White crossed the finish line at 17:12, and marked the third time she won the New England XC title.

As the season comes to a close for Ewings and Johnson, they will both be back next year to run for their senior year. Congratulations to both on a great season!
