Houlton Police Department partners with AAB on Drug Takeback Day

The Houlton Police Department is partnering with Adopt-A-Block of Aroostook to sponsor a local effort as part of national “Drug Take Back Day.”

On Saturday, April 29, anyone with unused, unwanted or expired medications may drop them off for safe disposal at the Houlton Police Department from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Drugs that may be dropped off include prescription, over-the-counter medicines, veterinary pills, drops and ointments.

In addition, the Houlton Police Department has a “needle disposal kiosk” that will be available for sharps disposal. All sharps must be placed in a puncture resistant container. Disposals are anonymous and free of charge.

“The Houlton Police Department and Adopt-A-Block of Aroostook support this program to safeguard and protect our citizens and environment,” Police Chief Tim DeLuca said.

Volunteers from Adopt-A-Block of Aroostook will join members of the department during the collection and will provide community education materials.
