MPA, State Officials Reach Agreement On HS Sports Guidelines

Details To Be Released Thursday

The Maine Principals’ Association (MPA) and all state agencies met again today in Augusta and have come to an agreement on guidelines for high school fall sports.

But, the announcement on details on that agreement won’t come until tomorrow.

From MPA executive director Mike Burnham –  “A meeting took place late this afternoon between the MPA, DHHS, MSSA, MSBA, DOE and the governor’s office. Consensus on the guidelines has been reached with the exception of a few minor edits. The finished documents will be finalized and shared with MPA member schools sometime tomorrow (Thursday).

Fall sports include golf, cross country field hockey, soccer, volleyball and football.

After several delays in the start date, it appears a decision on fate of all six sports will become clear tomorrow.
