NAC Suspends Spring Sports Season

UMPI, UMF Cancel Spring Sports

The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) has suspended all spring sports while member schools UMaine Presque Isle and UMaine Farmington have cancelled all spring sports.

The NAC released the following statement on Friday…

The presidents of the NAC are closely monitoring the COVID-19 outbreak and, based on guidance from federal and state public health and governmental authorities regarding the evolving public health threat of COVID-19, the NAC has temporarily suspended all conference competition and will reassess the situation as more information becomes available. NAC presidents and athletic administrators continue to follow the rapidly changing situation and will base decisions on developing facts moving forward. The health and safety of NAC student athletes and coaches, as well as institutional staff members, parents, and fans, remains of utmost concern.

Member institutions will determine, at their own discretion, the continuation of athletic practices and non-conference contests.

Institutionally, Northern Vermont-Lyndon, Northern Vermont-Johnson, SUNY Canton, SUNY Delhi, Maine Maritime, Husson, and Thomas have suspended intercollegiate athletics. UMaine-Farmington and UMaine-Presque Isle have canceled spring seasons.

Spring sports in the NAC include baseball, softball, lacrosse, men’s tennis, men’s & women’s outdoor track and field.
