IJ Pinkham Retires, Second In Wins To Barstow

I.J. Pinkham, the winningest boys basketball coach in Maine, has announced he will not be coming back to coach at Boothbay HS and ends a 50 year run as a hoops coach.

46 of the 50 years were at Boothbay and Pinkham’s 659 career win mark is second to longtime high school girls coach Dick Barstow’s win total of 664.

Pinkham retired as a math teacher several years ago but stayed on to coach the Seahawks basketball program. He led Boothbay to a 15-5 record this past season. The Seahawks lost in the Class C South semi-final round to Waynflete.

He was inducted into the Maine Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016.

PInkham played his high school basketball at Milbridge HS and his college ball at UMaine Farmington.
