College All-American Goes For 2nd Title

UPDATE: Bailey Plourde fires an even par 73 on the first day of the Maine Women’s Amateur to lead by three shots.

90 of the top players in the state will tee it up Monday morning at the Augusta Country Club for the first round of the 2020 Maine Women’s Amateur Championship.

It is a three day, 54-hole tourney.

Bailey Plourde from Newcastle is the favorite to win entering the event. She is an All-American golfer at Division III Centre College in Kentucky.

She won the Maine Amateur in 2018 but did compete in last year’s tournament.

Jordan Laplume from Old Orchard Beach is the defending champ and is also considered a favorite in the field. She will tee off in the same group with Plourde. Laplume plays for Merrimack College in Massachusetts. The Warriors recently moved up from NCAA Division II to Division I.
