MDI, GSA Sweep PVC Cross Country Titles

Caribou's Bell, Duplissie Post Top Times

Caribou High School sophomore Kayley Bell was the top runner at the Class B Girls Penobscot Valley Conference (PVC) championship held Saturday at Saxl Park in Bangor. The MDI girls won the team title, placing seven runners in the top 10.

The Vikings placed second in team competition and will join the Trojans in the state championship on November 14th.

Bell’s time was 20:19.95. Presque Isle freshman Anna Jandreau finished second. MDI runners finished 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9. 10.

CLASS B BOYS: Caribou senior Jordan Duplissie topped the field with a time of 16:37.96. And, just like the girls race, MDI boys won the team championship, placing four runners in the top 10. Ponce Saltysiak placed second to lead the Trojans.

MDI, Caribou and Hermon all earned a spot in the state championship meet on November 11th.

CLASS C GIRLS: George Stevens Academy ended Orono’s run of PVC titles. Eagles sophomore Thea Crowley topped the field with a time of 20:03.72. GSA placed four runners in the top 10.

Both GSA and Orono qualify for the state championship.

CLASS C BOYS: George Stevens Academy boys made it a sweep of PVC Class C, placing four runners in the top 10.

Bucksport freshman William Hileman had the best time in the field at 16:57.73.

GSA, Orono and Bucksport all qualify for the state championship.
