Clark Captures 47th Oxford 250

Mainer is a First Time Winner in Biggest Race of the Year

15 times over the years Maine racer Johnny Clark entered the prestigious Oxford 250 Race but never could finish in the winner’s circle. But that changed Sunday night on try #16.

Hallowell’s Clark took over the lead on lap 179 and led the rest of the night to capture the 47th running of the Oxford 250.

Another Mainer, Jeff Taylor from Farmington, had the lead but during a caution lap he thought he had exited pit road driving through a stop sign. So Taylor took a self-imposed penalty – a pass through pit road. That left him in 10th place and he could never catch Clark and had to settle for a third runner-up spot in Maine’s biggest race of the year.

Clark is a six-time PASS (Pro All Stars Series) North Series champion and now a first time Oxford 250 champ.

54 cars were in the field. The number of spectators was limited to 200 due to Covid-19 state guidelines. The racetrack can hold 8,000.

The winning purse amount was not announced last night.
