Adrienne Shibles, the winningest coach in Bowdoin College basketball history, is leaving the Polar Bears program to become head coach at Division I Dartmouth in the Ivy League.
Shibles spent the past 12 years at Bowdoin, winning 281 games, playing in 11 NCAA tournaments and two times finishing as Division III runnerup.
“I will forever be thankful to everyone in the Bowdoin community for their support over the last 13 years,” said Shibles. “I will always treasure the incredible memories with colleagues and staff, our passionate fans and, of course, the incredible women I had the privilege to coach. I am confident that the extraordinary legacy of Bowdoin women’s basketball will continue well into the future.” – Bowdoin Press Release
Shibles is a native on Knox. She played her high school basketball at Mt. View High School and was a 1,000 point scorer at Bates College.
At Dartmouth Shibles will replace Belle Koclanes who had been the Big Green coach for the past eight seasons.
Bowdoin College officials say the search for a replacement for Shibles is underway.
