The UMaine women’s basketball team will play in the America East Conference championship game next Friday after beating UMass Lowell 67-54 in the semi-final round Sunday afternoon in Orono.
The Black Bears are two-time defending champions and will play in a fifth straight league title game.
The will be played at Stony Brook in New York. The #1 seeded Seawolves beat Binghamton in their semi-final 57-42.
At the Pit on the UMaine campus, freshman guard Anne Simon led the Black Bears with 21 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
Maeve Carroll added a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
Maddy McVigar and Kelly Fogarty each scored 11 points.
UMaine and Stony Brook spit two regular season games. The Black Bears lost by four points in New York and then beat the Seawolves by two at the Cross Center.
