Black Bears Beat PI 6-2

Make it three straight Class B North regional titles for Old Town/Orono hockey after a 6-2 win over the Presque Isle Wildcats Thursday night at Alfond Arena in Oroono.

Black Bears senior Tyler McCannell had a game for the ages, scoring four goals and adding an assist in the victory.

Old Town/Orono will now meet Greely for the Class B state championship Saturday afternoon at 1pm at the Colisee in Lewiston.

PI’s Gage Letourneau scored at the 8:42 mark of the third period to tie the game at 2-2.

Just 24 seconds later OTO’s Tanner Evans scored to give the Black Bears a 3-2. It was the start of four unanswered goals to put the game away.

Aidan Rand made 19 saves for OTO while Brandon Poitras had 28 for the Wildcats.

The Black Bears take a 15-5-1 record into the state game.

Presque Isle finishes the season at 14-6-1.
